Regulations of the 2023 edition of the Gran Canaria ‘Mayor Camilo Sánchez Memorial’ Half Marathon

ARTICLE 1. DATE

The Town Council of Santa Lucía has organised the 15th edition of the Gran Canaria ‘Memorial Mayor Camilo Sánchez’ Half Marathon for 28 January 2023 with the collaboration of the two local athletics clubs: Club Deportivo UAVA and Club Deportivo Chikill@s of Vecindario.

ARTICLE 2. TIME LIMIT

The cut-off time to complete the 21 km race is 2 hours and 45 minutes. There will be a checkpoint at the end of half of the itinerary, i.e. at the end of the first lap, which must be completed in a time equal to or less than 1 hour 15 minutes.

ARTICLE 3. DISTANCES AND MINIMUM AGE TO PARTICIPATE

The event will consist of three races:

  1. 21 km race. Participants must be born in 2005 or before.
  2. 10.5 km race. Participants must be born in 2007 or before.
  3. 5 km race. Participants must be born in 2011 or before.

The main circuit for the 10.5 km and 21 km races will be 10,548.75 m long and is approved by the Spanish Royal Athletics Federation.

The circuit for the 5km race will be approximately 5,000 m long.

ARTICLE 4. START/FINISH

The start times are 20:00 and 20:05 in front of the Municipal Offices and Sports Pavilion.

The first start will be for the 10.5 km and 21 km races. The second start will be for the 5 km race.

Anyone who wishes to do so can take part. There will be 3 timing pens for each start, according to the predicted time to complete the race:

10.5 km and 21 km race START

Pen 1:

  • 21 km: 1 hr 35′ and under
  • 10.5 km: 42′ and under.

Pen 2:

  • 21km: 1hr 36′- 1hr 51′.
  • 10.5 km: 43′- 54′.

Pen 3:

.21 km: 1hr 52’ and over

.10,5 km: 55’ and over

5 KM START

Pen 4:

5 km: 20’

Pen 5:

5 km: 21’ – 26’

Pen 6:

5 km: 27’ and over

Note: Each pen will be limited to a certain number of runners and will be formed according to the order of registration. If the chosen pen is full, the runner will be moved to the next one and so on.

You must indicate the time you expect to take for the race when registering.

The assigned pen will appear on the race bib.

The organisation reserves the right to request accreditation of the trademark by means of a printed document.

  • Young Promise: 2002 – 2003 -2004 – 2005
  • Senior: 2001 to Veterans.
  • VETERANS
  • 35 – 39 years old
  • 40 – 44 years old
  • 45 – 49 years old
  • 50 – 54 years old
  • 55 – 59 years old
  • 60 – 64 years old
  • 65 – 69 years old
  • > 70 years old

Note: Any category that does not have at least 3 participants will be eliminated at the discretion of the organisers. The category will be assigned according to age on the day of the race.

ARTICLE 6. ROUTE AND REFRESHMENTS

The route will be signposted with metal posts kilometre by kilometre. There will be 1 refreshment point every 5 km.

Runners will have a changing room, cloakroom and massage service at the start-finish area. Chemical toilets will also be available.

ARTICLE 7. MEDICAL SERVICES

Ambulances and medical services will be located in the start-finish area and in strategic places for emergency exits.

ARTICLE 8. REGISTRATIONS AND FEES

Registrations can be made from 1 DECEMBER, on the official website of the event www.mediamaratonalcaldecamilosanchez. The established fees are:

Registration will be non-transferable and implies acceptance of this regulation.

Under no circumstances, once the registration is made, will the participation be transferred to another person, for the reason of not being able to attend on the day of the event.

No registrations will be accepted after the deadline.

ARTICLE 9. DELIVERY OF RACE BIBS AND PACKS

The place, times and days for the delivery of the race bibs and packs will be communicated on the race website. No race bibs or packs will be handed out on the day of the race under any circumstances.

To collect their bib number, runners must present their ID card, passport or another official document proving their identity.

In the event that a runner is unable to collect their race bib or pack, these may be collected by another person as long as they have a photocopy of their ID card and a signed authorisation from the runner. A photo of the ID card on a mobile phone will also be accepted. The commemorative T-shirt will be handed out together with the race bib.

 

ARTICLE 10. DESQUALIFICATIONS

Runners will be disqualified if they:

– Do not follow the instructions given by the organisation.

– Do not wear their bib correctly on their chest where it is clearly visible during the whole race, if they manipulate it or alter the advertising.

– Run with a bib assigned to another runner.

– Run without a bib or cross the finish line without a bib.

– Do not go through all the chip checkpoints.

– Alter the data provided to the organisers or the referee with respect to those appearing on their ID card.

– Do not provide the organisation with the required documentation.

ARTICLE 11. CLASSIFICATIONS

The classifications will be published on a board located in the finish area. Complaints may be made up to 30 minutes after the results have been published. The final results will be published on the official website of the race.

ARTICLE 12. TIMING

Timing will be managed by the electronic timing system with one control at the start, another at the finish line and others at 180º bends. Each participant will receive a personal race bib with a timing chip attached to it. It is not necessary to return the chip. Runners must pass over all timing mats. The results will be officially validated by the referees of the Athletics Federation.

ARTICLE 13. VEHICLES

Only vehicles authorised by the organisers will be allowed on the circuit. It is forbidden to follow runners on motorbikes or bicycles. The Local Police will ensure that this rule is complied with in order to avoid accidents to runners.

ARTICLE 14.

The administrative service of the race will be located in the finish area, where information about the race will be provided before, during and after the race.

ARTICLE 15. TROPHIES

Trophies will be awarded to the first 3 in each category. The organisers will award a trophy or special prize to the oldest male and female athlete who finishes the 21 km race. If after 15 calendar days from the end of the race, the awarded runners have not collected their trophies, they will lose the right to receive them.

ARTICLE 16. REFUND

Once the registration has been made, the registration fee will not be refunded.

In agreement with the organisers, the bib may be given to other people up to 15 days before the event, subject to written justification and/or accredited medical leave.

ARTICLE 17. DATA PROTECTION

When registering for the Gran Canaria ‘Mayor Camilo Sánchez Memorial’ Half Marathon, participants give their consent for the COMPANY TOP TIME EVENTOS and the Gerencia Municipal de Cultura y Deportes de Santa Lucia S.A. to automatically process their personal data for sport and promotional purposes only.

In accordance with the provisions of Spanish Organic Law 15/1999, of 13 December, on Personal Data Protection, participants have the right to access these files in order to rectify or cancel all or part of their content. To do so, a written request must be made to the registered office of Gerencia Municipal de Cultura y Deportes de Santa Lucia at the following address: Calle Colon 18, 35110 Santa Lucia.

Likewise, and in accordance with the sport, promotion, distribution and exploitation interests of the Gran Canaria ‘Mayor Camilo Sánchez Memorial’ Half Marathon for the whole world (reproduction of photos of the race, publication of classification lists, etc.), participants expressly grant the organisation the right to reproduce their name and surname, the place obtained in the general classification and that of runners, the category, the sports trademark and their image, by means of any device (Internet, advertising, etc.) and without time limit, with no right to any economic compensation.

ARTICLE 18. ACCEPTANCE OF THE REGULATIONS

All matters not provided for in these regulations shall be governed by the Canarian Athletics Federation (Spanish acronym: FCA) and Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (Spanish acronym: RFEA) Competition Rules for the current season.

The mere fact of starting this race implies the acceptance of these regulations. In case of doubt, the organisation’s criteria will prevail.

Any change may be made by the organising committee at any time, and the new rule will prevail.
